    • Lydia, born May 31, 1779; married Stephen, son of Jonathan and Keziah (Roberts) Dow of Weare Aug. 3, 1797. They were both Friends ; and lived on the Dow homestead in Weare, where he was a tanner and farmer until about 1841, when he removed to Woburn, Mass. He was born in Weare March 25, 1754. She died Nov. 11, 1832; and he died at Weare July 26, 1842.
      Children:
      1. Peace Neal, born Feb. 24, 1798; married Stephen P. Breed Oct. 22, 1817. He was born at Lynn, Mass., Jan. 20, 1796; and was a tanner at Weare and afterward at Concord, N. H. He continued the business later in Alton, 111. He returned to Weare and was the first station agent at the North Weare railroad station (opened in 1850). He held the position twenty years. She died at Alton Jan. 29, 1847; and he married, secondly, Anna Green, widow of Obadiah Huse. Lydia had five children. He died at Weare July 28, 1871. They were both Friends.
      2. Abraham, born May 1, 1799. His name was changed to Alfred. He married, first, Betsy Neal Hull in 1832. She was born May 20, 1807; died July — , 1839. He married, second, Caroline Silsbee April 3, 1843. She was born at Sutton, Mass., June 7, 1809. He died at Alton, 111., Oct. 1, 1876; and she died there Nov. 26, 1893. He had three children.
      3. Judith P. born Aug. 20, 1801 ; married Enoch Breed Oct. 25, 1820. He was born at Weare Aug. 8, 1795 ; and resided at Woburn. She died there Sept. 9, 1877. They were both buried in the Friends' burying ground at Weare. They had two children.
      4. Jonathan, born Aug. 29, 1803 ; married, first, Harriet Chase in 1837. She was born Nov. 16, 1809. They went to Alton; and she died in 1834. He married, second, Matilda L. Brown in 183- He had four children.
      5. Mary Green, born Aug. 11, 1806; married Hial Plumley Cram May 5, 1836, at Goffstown, N. H. He was born Sept. 22, 1807 ; and lived at Weare Center, being town clerk of Weare in 1839 and 1840. He conducted a hotel there afterwards, and removed to Boston, Mass., or vicinity. He died at Stoneham. Mass., March 28. 1878. They had four children.
      6. Stephen, born Jan. 13, 1809; lived in Portland, Me., in 1836; and removed to Woburn, where he did an extensive business as a tanner and currier. He also had a wholesale leather business in Boston. He married Celinda Thompson of Woburn May 24, 1836; and she died Oct. 16, 1842. They had seven children.
      7. Moses Gove, born June 6, 1811; married Harriet Purington Oct. 5, 1834, at Portland. She was born in Weare June 7, 1811. He died at Norway, Me., April 12, 1843; and she died at Portland Oct. 31, 1891. They had two children.
      8. James Neal, born May 5, 1814. When eighteen years of age he went to work in a store at Waterville, Me., and a few years later went to Alton, 111., in charge of a construction gang on the Chicago & Alton Railroad. In 1849, he went to California with an ox-team, the journey taking seven months. He made and lost a considerable fortune, again made one, and went to Woburn, where he engaged in the manufacture of morocco leather until 1872. He then retired from business, having acquired wealth. He was one of the founders of the Woburn Five Cents Savings Bank, and its first treasurer. He held many positions of trust in Woburn. He married Ellen Sophia Beeman of North Bridgton, Me., Aug. 11, 1853, at Biddeford, Me.; and died at Woburn in 1887. They had two children.
      9. Lydia Gove, born Nov. 17, 1816; married Charles H. Choate of Woburn Sept. 14, 1840, at Weare. He was born at Charlestown, Mass., Sept. 16, 1806; was a wealthy merchant in Boston; and died at Woburn Feb. — , 1883. _ She died there April — , 1904, aged eighty-seven.
      10. Benjamin Franklin, born July 2. 1819; married, first, Judith Rodgers March 26, 1845. She died: and he married, second, Laura Jane Lapointe Nov. 12, 1865. He had five children.
      11. Emma Maria, born Jan. 31, 1824; married Benjamin Pond June 28, 1848, at Woburn. He was born at Salem, Mass., Feb. 6, 1822; and was a lawyer, living at East Boston. She died there Dec. 15, 1873; and he died at Somerville, Mass., Nov. 21, 1889. They had eight children. [2]
