  Notes	[dunbar_tree.FTW] David Williamson, "Kings and Queens of Britain," p. 234, gives Brien Borom's son and father of "Dearbforgail" as Donnchad, King of Munster (1023-64). "Ancestral Roots..." (Balt., 1992) 175-2 agrees, and reports that he was King of Munster in 1023, on pilgrimage to Rome in 1064 and died that year. http://www.magoo.com/hugh/irishkings.html#pedigrees (in 2002) states: "King of Munster. Son of Brian and Gormflaeth ingen Murchada MacFinn. O'Hart says that he assumed the title of Monarch of Ireland 'without the general consent of the major part of the Kingdom.' Went to Rome and made a submission of Ireland to the Pope. Keating says: '. . . the nobles of Ireland consented to the Bishop of Rome's having authority over them, because they were wont to contend with one another for the mastery of Ireland.' Keating places the year of submission to Pope Urbanus II as 1092 and says that, based on this submission, Pope Adrianus granted Ireland to Henry II in 1155. (book II, section XXXIII). Keating says that Donnchadh held the sovereignty of Leath Mogha and the greater part of Ireland for fifty years.
