While cleaning out some old boxes, we came across an old cassette. On the cassette, it said: Brooks Interview, written in my father's hand. My brother in-law, Lee Ray, transferred the cassette to a music file and cleaned it up a bit. Here is the interview.

I believe this was recorded sometime around 1948  as he refers to his little baby daughter, the older being born in late 1947. There are interviews and four songs: A Hawaiian melody, Peg 'o my heart, That Lucky Old Sun (Just Rolls around heaven all day) and an Irish ballad.

From the recording surface noise, this appears to have been from 78 RPM records.

Much of what Lawrie says in the interview was also written in correspondence between he and his first-born daughter, Miki Cutter (Bratt).

The songs include:

  1. Introduction
  2. A Hawaiian Melody (don't know the title)
  3. Interview
  4. Peg 'O My Heart
  5. Interview
  6. That Lucky Old Sun (Just Rolls Around Heaven All Day)
  7. Interview
  8. Bonnie Mary of Argyle
  9. Closing

Hope you enjoy this little time-capsule
